Be careful with that Seamaster 300 from Peru.....

What's going on here then - the 321 looks accurate - is it a bait and switch on the movement then? Forget the other side, this side is more interesting.

Don't worry if you miss this one Achim, you can have a chance on a nice 2915 he's got on auction.

😉

https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/313734772475?hash=item490c0cb6fb:g:JncAAOSworFhglw~

Just watched this auction end up now, sold for USD 8211. Funny bit of detail on the sold page for this item:

Postage:
FREE Expedited Shipping from Greater China to worldwide

Located in:
AYACUCHO, Peru

Seriously I don't understand how some people can throw this much money at a watch, when about 30 seconds of due diligence would show it's almost certainly a scam?

The thing is, he offers "Free 30-day returns." If he sends you a dead Seiko, or an empty box, or whatever--you just file the return form and you are guaranteed to get a full refund--from eBay if not from him.

If the listing had said "Seller does not accept returns" that would be different. You could try for a return, but he could fight it and it wouldn't be guaranteed.

Trying to understand what you mean here; are you saying that it's worth the (high) risk to buy it cheap in order to resell for a profit?

Oh Dear..... 99% sure they do not exist. Not with this " Seller "......

I can’t understand how some people can pay this kind of amount to a seller with just 10-15 feedback. Or is there some collaboration behind?

Yes. A halfway decent 2915 can sell for 10 times the price they pay here. These scams are mostly fallen for by the people with dollar signs in their eyes

Isn't it just a risk-reward calculation mixed with collector's dream of finding a diamond in the rough - we all share that, right? I made the calculation myself. If it's completely different on arrival, i.e. bait and switch, then ebay/paypal will refund. If not then it could be a legit 2915-1 movement. That's got to be worth $6k. All the rest is rubbish, but easily sold for a few quid... Maybe the case is legit, so maybe another $2k. So maybe maybe it's worth it to take the risk of a big fight with eBay... I asked the seller for more pics of the movement - got no response - so figured it's a complete waste of time.

As a heads up, you can't always get your money back from eBay, their new system is pretty messed up - one buyer decided to immediately cancel something I was selling, I immediately approved, it's been more than 2 months, no help from eBay, I tried more than the buyer to get him his money back, it's just not happening

The labels are pretty messed up too - "FREE Expedited Shipping from Greater China to worldwide" - I don't see this, as I see the listing, it's from Peru, maybe he chose a wrong option, but still, "Item Location" matters

With this said, $8k is a lot for some potato pictures indeed

you can't always get your money back from eBay,
Or paypal!
Small order from Chicago (China), never received. Seller produces a tracking # for a different item (47 lbs. vs. 2 lbs.)
and states the UPS driver met me on the street 5 miles away.
UPS tells me it's BS, paypal says tough noogies, delivery confirmed.
Had a huge (for me)transaction pending, so couldn't tell paypal to kiss off.

Now I can!

As the rule goes, buy the seller!
