What was valuable in this analysis, in your opinion?

If ever a post text matched the profile pic, this is it!

    Thanks for posting, interesting read.

“In 2017 Richemont bought back €200m of unsold watches - and destroyed them so they would not be sold at knockdown prices” Say it ain’t so! Why couldn’t they have just given me one....just one

Same stuff has been trotted out for years.

Who cares about the companies, it’s just the watches for me.

Being a vintage mostly guy it matters less.

It’s true that there’s nothing really new in this article that’s not already out there, but it’s still a nice short summary of much longer analyses. The Apple Watch 4 might represent the beginning of a threat though. Anyone I know that has one says it’s a game changer compared to older versions, because now it’s much more useful. Going forward as features are added to this and other smartwatches, more and more people will be tempted. Hopefully not me, because I won’t wear something on both wrists. That said, I am a T1 diabetic and if Apple can integrate the functions of my insulin pump and continuous glucose sensor into their watch, even I would need to think about it. But I LOVE wearing my real watches though...so I I’ll be a tough nut to crack.

It's interesting to consider smart watches as a lead-in to the mechanical luxury watch market.
