Was fooling around changing bands and the watch has stopped
Never gave me an end of Life indicater
Can the battery die without this warning?

now oddly I pulled the stem out to the first click and it restarted and is fine
    Any ideas?

some watches have a built-in low-battery warning that's triggered by low voltage (a sign of a weak battery), does your watch have any type of a battery life indicator? What's the watch?

I know is time to replace the battery on my [Quartz] Seiko when the second hand starts skipping seconds..or moves erratically.

in many models, the watch will stop when the crown is completely pulled out - this is one way to preserve the battery life.
