The OB sent me a "form" so I can reserve a LE model, and I would like to share the brochure part of the "form". Sorry in case this info has been posted previously. Still thinking about the 60th Ann Speedy to pair with my 145.022-68: Wish I had box and papers ...
The OB sent me that via email the first day the watches were announced at BW after calling them and wanting to preorder. Looks like they didn't fix the part about the Speedy 57 having sapphire yet.
Interesting. The speedy page lists it as having a sapphire crystal, despite multiple media outlets reporting it has hesalite. I assume that's just sloppy copy+pasting from the other models.
The brochure also lists the SM300 as having a ceramic bezel insert; the earlier promotional announcement on the Omega website said that the bezel would be aluminum.
I got the same thing from my OB. That was promptly followed up by a deposit form, wait scratch that... pay for your watch 4 months ahead of time form.
Looks like Omega web site has correct info: Hesalite for Speedy 60th, Aluminium bezel and 300 meter WR for SM300.
Thanks for sharing wish my wrist was small enough for the Speedmaster 1957 LE. What are your thoughts on the 45th Anniversary Speedmaster Apollo XVII. Might be a bit to busy for my taste.
i have a SM300 on deposit at my OB but pretty disappointed at the vast difference in pricing around the globe. the US is getting screwed! have to think grey mkt dealers will be selling watches in the US at a discount to MSRP.
Been thinking of getting one overseas but then there are import duties which truth be told I only had to pay once
I like the X-33 in general. I even have the Solar Impulse edition. And I get that it does a lot of timing things. But one thing it's not: a water friendly watch. So why oh why would they use it for the America's Cup special edition? 3 bar WR, don't fall off the yacht!
As a matter you are absolutely right. They buy in UK from an AD with 20% off MSRP there and sell in US at local MSRP minus 30% and everyone is happy apart of any US based AD. Why do Omega propel such a market situation is dunno to me.
Thanks for sharing! Interesting...the Apollo XVII is $750 cheaper than the Speedy 60th, even though it's about twice as rare (1972 vs 3557) and uses more expensive materials (sapphire vs hesalite, ceramic dial and bezel, ceragold tachy scale etc.). Now of course the price has little to do with the cost of production as we know, so what explains the difference? Lower expected demand? Historic prices for LE moonwatches?
would you mind explaining how this process works? i have purchased watches from overseas before but never from an AD. i would imagine ADs "follow the rules" more so than smaller, second hand vintage dealers.
