I am sure we have all seen some really nice vintage watches where the mid-case or bezel chrome has worn off or corroded. Are there restoration specialist the can restore/re-chrome the these damaged cases?. Would it be advisable from a value standpoint?.
Well, they don't do chrome plating, but this place does nickel and rhodium plating in it's place: http://www.replateit.com/faq.html
There are a handful of threads that discuss this topic... https://omegaforums.net/threads/re-plating-chrome-watches.77228/ https://omegaforums.net/threads/replating-experiment-one.10915/ https://omegaforums.net/threads/my-first-omega-was-a-disaster.58792/ https://omegaforums.net/threads/can-this-case-be-salvaged.14048/ I'll admit I've found many lovely dials trapped in ratty chrome cases and I've been very tempted by the notion of rechroming a case, but have never done so myself.
