First and Foremost this Q is for learning, and only second who knows what it leads to: I have the opportunity to purchase a 321 movement with serialnr indicating 1960 origin, with the symatrical bridge. Its put in a 145012 case, complemented by what i think I see a further unassuming dail and bezel. Now i'm in doubt: is this a great opportunity, to try and find a proper case at a reasonable cost (i'm not a millionaire) and bring it back, or "nice try, but you reallu should forget it". It would be a great project, but i do not have the experience yet to judge if this just a very very stupid idea Any thoughts highly appreciated. Best regards and thanks!
A. You don't know that this movement actually originated in a Speedy B. The entire watch is made out of service parts. C. Getting all the parts necessary to restore a 2998-1/2 will be quite an expensive adventure... Just buy this and call it a day: https://www.ebay.com/itm/VINTAGE-19...sh=item287c0b7b1e:g:cC0AAOSwUnJct82e&LH_BIN=1Purchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network
I'm afraid there will be no satisfaction in this potential project... Could use atleast a few more correct parts to begin with, not just starting around the movement (which may not even origin from a Speedy as mentioned...)
EUR 5.500. Which is ambitious for a collection of parts. And seller states that he does not like 'a lot of questions'
"I want to sell this, and not be inconvenienced. I am doing you a favor by listing this collection of parts for such a paltry sum"
I love my ‘customized’ 321. - 15m serial number with symmetric clutch bridge - service 321 dial with applied logo - FOIS hands - Sapphire case back
