Cold dark miserable afternoon here today. Decided to give my pw's a bit of a canter and thought that for those who have never given much attention to these old war horses I would post a couple of quick snaps. This key wind and set piece cased in silver dates from 1871 and still runs beautifully. The well worn rear hinged case still showing some of the original intricate work - As close as most owners would come to the works, case back with all its' hallmarks, makers marks etc. and the key entry point - The movement on this piece is accessed from the front, another two hinges required here - Already we can see the detailing that most owners never would - Cover removed and the Glasgow watchmaker of 143 years ago can show off some of his skills - Afraid that is as far as I want to delve today
bloody brilliant that! Gotta love blued screws! (cue the rude crowd) think about it, that thing bounced around on a horse to get anywhere! the below lump is from 1874..... so relatively new then!
