I was sent on a quest by a client to find vintage Omegas specifically a 2998 but couldn't locate one I would be proud to present and came across this model. It needed a service as there were dust specs inside the crystal and the second hand under low power reserve would stop on the minute hand. So off it went to my watchmaker and now it's back in my hands. It still has the original 1039 bracelet with 516 endlinks and works great with the stretch clasp. I am still contemplating whether to get an extract or not from Omega or just a simple email asking for more details would suffice. Here are some photos of the inside. Looks good and no corrosion on the case. I kind of don't want to let this one go as I believe it would be very hard to find one in better condition for quite some time but hey it wasn't for me to begin with. Let me know if everything inside looks right :)

I'm curious as to the dual references on the caseback. The caseback is legit from what I can tell.

I love these icons, the classic design, the reliability and the "something undefineable".

I don't like the 'patina' on lots of old things offerred around, sometimes it just looks like black overspray :(

These two are stupendous, but until I can afford one like these, I'll settle for my watchco.

The big triangle is a little cooler, but only by a smidge.

I have both and love both, though if push came to shove, I'd opt for the BT with date 166.024.

    Respectable Member George

They are irresistible and I shall take both of the beauties. By the time I have the funds to purchase these icons, I think their price will be beyond me. Apparently, the demand for these Omega watches is growing, amongst enthusiasts and collectors.

    Thank-you.

Gorgeous. I'll take the non date, please. Just tell me where to send you my shipping address.
