Nabbed this CK2175/5 (9,8xx,xxx serial) from eBay late last week on an impulse, and hoping that I did kinda alright.

I am very much in love with it.馃グ

To my eye, everything is original - with the exception of the sweep second hand.

I say that, because I'm not sure if it is the correct type and its lost its tail, or it is entirely wrong for the reference, and been fitted to replace something else!

I'm sure one of resident experts will kindly put me right, and tell me how hard its going to be to find the right one! 馃憤

Nice one! It's a UG-style second hand, which I've never really liked because of the lack of a tail. Shouldn't be too difficult to find a correct one.

Congrats!

Thanks Tony!

Should it have something similar to the hand on my CK2300?

Patience appears to have paid of - will send this away in the coming weeks for a clean, a service, and to have the proper sweep second hand fitted. 馃榾

Ok, so this kinda got forgotten about with one thing and another, and sat in my "things to get fixed" box through the rest of 2020, and a good chunk of 2021.

Arrived back from our friends out in Essex this week, and along with running as intended (I got a lot of worn out bits back), it has the replacement set of hands fitted too, which I think made a world of difference.

Decided to opt for leaving the hands hollow, rather than refilling with a modern compound.

What a gorgeous piece! Reminds me a bit of my Smiths Antarctic (a rather more humble watch):
