Well what's always nice when a new member joins up and asks a question about a watch is when they also tell us what they think about it, what they have discovered up until now and what their concerns are.

What's even nicer is when a noob asking for advice about a potential expensive purchase gets that advice, instead of sarcastic comments.

    Hey @bdp

Insanely cool Speedmaster (I think so anyway).

    Useful article here: http://www.fratellowatches.com/speedy-tuesday-speedmaster-professional-ba-145-022/

If nothing else, I'd be asking to see some high resolution pictures, and a receipt that shows a detailed listing as to what service work was carried out.

For a purchase of this kind of value, I personally would want to be meeting the seller somewhere in person... maybe at the jewellers that did the service, so you can fully check it over.

    Good Luck.

    Chris

that BA looks nice, the only thing is that the bezel is a replacement one. Originally they have a DON bezel. Ok in my opinion better a nice repl. bezel than a terrible DON. The Box is anyway verry rare and sought-after.

If we are all being honest, it screams "old man's watch" to me, like any all (particularly yellow) gold bracelet watch (Rolex Day-Date, et al).

Having said that, I can't see myself ever being old enough to wear it. If it floats your boat then have at it, but it's not for me.

I would follow the advice given by tyrantlizardrex on the purchase.

    Cheers, Al

    Yes... yes, you're right.

I don't think I'd ever have the cash to buy one of these, so haven't really thought about the concept of wearing on... but yep.

Ask to personally see the watch and purchase only if your trusted watchmaker or maybe an AD looks it over for issues. Otherwise you have little recourse if problems arise involving authenticity or major mechanical problems.
