From one of my last tasks in the Air Force, Clearance Certification Engineer for Army Blackhawk Antimissile Decoy System.

(and back in the day they had to use real cameras, plastic film and print the picture to paper, thus the scan)

Hmmmm, not loading, go for a coffee.

Scan JPG wouldn't load, so open in Preview, take a screenshot and Bingo.

Digging through the photo box I found another one.

Even earlier in my aviation career. Here seen prepping a 500lb Laser Guided Bomb for trials with my Sergeant "Strange Dave".

And yes, I know I needed a haircut, and I got bounced by the squadron WOD a day later.

Don't have that problem any more :D

Looking at the photo, the way I read it, the guy's name WAS Dave Strange! Truth is often stranger than fiction! Correct me if I'm wrong.

A few 'happy snaps' from yesterday at the Brisbane Valley Airshow.
All planes and pilots were from the SE Queensland area.
Several planes are operated by companies offering flying experiences, sadly my funds were lacking on the day. :(

Spitfire (didn't get any more details on this one, unfortunately. Flew with a FW190)

The sun was brutal, even though we're still officially in winter.
Found some shade for the afternoon's displays but made the rookie error of picking the wrong wing and the shadow was rapidly shortening.
Had to bum shuffle a few times.

I'm seriously considering applying to the RAAF as a Loadmaster in one of these.
Any advice from the those that have been there or still have links?
I'll be turning 48 in October. Capable of passing the fitness requirements, working on my speed for the aptitude tests.

Sadly the ADF weren't in attendance on the day, despite being advertised. I'll do a bit more research before popping into a recruitment centre.

A Nimrod MR2 over the North Pole (actually around 4 miles away as the subs had to find a suitable crack in the ice as close as possible in order to surface). This was taken in 1993 and I was flying the Nimrod from which the pictures were taken.

The final flight of a Nimrod MR2 leaving Gibraltar in 2010. I'd left front-line flying by this time but flown by colleagues and friends.

Last MR2 Departs the Rock (Large).JPG

And a final arty one of a pair (of MRA4s cancelled in SDSR 2010) heading into the sunset.

Looking at this post with the paratroops, I thought of the Ford tri-motor. According to a Wikipedia article, there are still eight of them considered airworthy. Have you flown a Ford lately? :)

I think MAD DOG must be confusing his P71 Ford Interceptor which he claims can fly, with a P51 Mustang which undoubtedly would fly, and no doubt he could fly one of those! But fly with his Interceptor? Not at mandated speed limits! ;)

    Negatory...I can't fly a P-51 Mustang:

    1. It's a tail dragger and I'm not signed off for a tail dragger. :(
    2. It's got way too much torque. :(
    3. I can't afford it. :(
