I know I posted this in my thread about the Biggin Hill Festival of Flight 2015, but I think it belongs here as well. Brothers in Arms
Very sorry for your loss Nobel Prize. I went to one of the early Red Bull Air races years ago and was amazed at how on the edge it all is. Incredible stuff.
Cheating a bit as it's a Video... My DSLR battery had given up before she arrived so iphone was my back up and in a way i am glad i videoed it as the howl the old girl makes is like nothing i have ever experienced before. Sadly she is now permanently grounded but i was lucky enough to see her twice in 2015 and it's something i will never forget. (can't seem to get the video on my FB to embed so here is a link to my dropbox location) https://www.dropbox.com/s/kiqqpfv9l3lfca6/IMG_0573.MOV?dl=0
I suppose most of us have seen the video of the stunt pilot having the right wing fall off his (Russian I believe) stunt plane following which he successfully lands it! A pilot friend of mine who has built two planes, and regularly flies his stunt plane in competition with the likes of Pitt Specials, tells me the video is bogus! Opinions?
wow, good pix. here is the bell aircobra I stole this pix from the net. you all know what is strange about this plane? vinn (sorry, lost photo)
Centre-mounted engine, behind the pilot, long drive shaft to drive the prop, and the first single engine fighter with tricycle landing gear. (I hope Wikipedia was correct, or I just made a fool of myself, again!)
Regarding your question, the engine is behind the pilot in the middle of the aircraft and drives the prop via a long shaft and gearing. Edit :- I guess you type faster than me Canuk!

Hey Andy, if you see a young RAAF Sergeant looking homesick, take him home and feed him for me. Same name as mine. He'll be near the P3s.
