I've had the great pleasure and privilege of getting to lay down both tire and sneaker rubber on the Nordschleife:

    Hey! My next car!
Saw this amazing looking 1954 Mercedes-Benz W196 "Silver Arrow" with the aluminum "Type Monza" streamliner body in a museum in Vienna. Only 4 were built. One W196 was sold at an auction in 2013 for a cool £20 million (world record then).

    Gotta have it!

Rats! I didn't get to see this car while in Vienna. Would have enjoyed viewing it.

Did see this one which had a sordid history.

Yes, ahartfie. You are correct. I had no idea that the auto had survived not one, but two World Wars.

It even has a .32 bullet hole in the coachwork from one of the shots fired from Gavrilo Princip's Browning pistol.

Hmmmm, must get some footage running to the red line but the snow is putting me off.:whistling: I imagine there were more E-Types written off going backwards into hard objects due to loss of control on slippery surfaces than died from rust, and Jaguar hardly had good rust protection as they only painted the bits you could see...

Used to have an exhaust on my 120 affectionately known as "horse frightener" as above 4000, it sounded like the crack of doom. Modern cars just not the same...

    Cheers, Chris
