My 2 year old could have come up with better small seconds than that.

Hello, this is not a fake but as you see collectors would not consider it a valuable collectible item.
Not everybody wants to be a collector but if you’re going to spend money on a watch it is best to spend it on a watch which will retain value in case some day you decide you need to resell it.

Buying vintage watches is a minefield with great potential for financial loss if you don’t know what you are doing - so you did very well to check with people here before pulling the trigger.

You should read the very useful sticky thread called “Learn how to fish”, by @ConElPueblo.

    Good luck and best regards

In addition to the badly refinished dial, the case has been very heavily polished, loosing the crisp edges it should have. Even when correct gold plated cases are at the very bottom of the desirability/value scale as well. I actually think this one may have been re-plated to cover up the horror of the polishing job. All in all this one is a piece of junk, tarted up for resale, shiny but not desirable.

Glad you came here to ask first.

Feel free to post other candidates (in a separate thread) so the knowledgeable people here can help you find your first watch.
