Authentic SMP Rubber Strap?

Hello,

I just ordered my Seamaster Diver 300 and am looking around at rubber straps. It seems like there are some really close replicas out there.. So, my questions is - does this local FB marketplace strap, advertised as OEM, look authentic?

Thanks in advance!

These are not sharp photos but from what I can see I feel pretty confident calling this a fake. The engraving is too rough and the S in Seamaster on the strap-keeper is too far from the rest of the word.

That said, I’ve owned an authentic strap and it is not (in my view) worth several hundred US dollars. It’s a strip of rubber and a couple pieces of steel. Comfortable, yes, but there are much cheaper aftermarket options that are just as good.

I'm not an expert on these and the photos aren't the greatest, but comparing to my gen, it definitely looks fake. There are a number of small detail issues that could be down to photo quality, but the big ones I can't see being bad photos:

  • The CVZ lettering looks way off and is off center.
  • The logo on the buckle is too pronounced and rough.
  • Your pics appear to have grey sections on the end of the strap, which my gen does not have.

This is true of all of Omega's accessories. You're paying a hefty premium for the brand name and the fact that, even if they are overpriced, they are at least up there with the best straps in the industry. I've never seen a NATO or rubber that was better than Omega's. I've seen some that were 80% as good for 20% of the price though.

I would just order through the local boutique or authorised dealers, fakes of these are prolific and there is a big difference in quality between the real version and the junk ones.

Thanks very much! I did also notice the grey section but compared to some "authentic" ones on ebay that seemed to have it as well. Did not notice the "S" though. Yes, the seller's terrible photos do not make it any easier lol.

Thanks for pointing that out. Now that you mention it, the model number also doesn't look centered.

I appreciate the replies very much. Seems my hunch was correct that it's not authentic. Will keep looking!

I would assume any so-called OEM strap on ebay, FB, or etsy is fake. They aren't all fake--but most are.

That Omega logo is all wrong, it's too thick. it should look like this:

I I have one of these straps that's been sitting in my spare strap box for about a year that I wore on my 2531.80 a couple of times, you inspired me to list it here on omegaforms.net.

Edit: there's a ton wrong with that fake, the Omega logo being the most obvious but even the strap ends were produced improperly

Now seeing them side by side, the difference is glaring! How much would you want for your strap?
