good morning members, I've been looking for an original Ranchero for some time and as you can a again there quite rare ,I've can across this one on an action site there no photos of the case back or the movment but the description mentions the following : case 2969-1sc cal 267 price £2000 What you thought is this over priced or a good investment Thanks Steve
...but that means (if correct) that the watch should have "Seconde Centrale". The subsecond type should have ref. 2900... rgds - h.u.
Thank for that info ..I will ask the question to the seller, I'm waiting on photos from him of the movment and the case back ref before I make my mind up . Thanks Steve
You need to be more precise. I have seen center-seconds Rancheros before but those WORDS were never printed on the dial. Tom
I've seen several Ranchero with wording on them from my research I believe the work seamaster was never printed ,but I may be wrong .
The SC is part of the imprint on the inside of the caseback and means Seconde Centrale. The ones with sub second dial aren't stamped as SC inside. It's not on the dial.
There were Seamasters that used the same case references as the Rancheros. Both center and sub second models exist. Other than the wording on the dial, they are identical right down to the hands. There are some examples on this thread. http://panerai.watchprosite.com/?show=forumpostf&fi=677&pi=4434278&ti=690008&s=0 Hope this helps, gatorcpa
Here's what I can tell you from mine. Inside caseback is 2990-1 (no SC as its not center second) Cal 267 Serial in the 16,629,xxx range The hands look ok on the one you posted. Dial is a bit worn out, but could be sympathetically touched up or left as is. Here's a few pics for reference.
I'm still waiting on a reply from the seller as well as some photos that I've requested . is the price exeptible for this Ranchero ?
I'm not an expert on pricing and probably overpay more than some would as a result. Mine (above) was about $2600 USD. So, assuming the innards check out, and considering the condition, it's probably not too far off. As you say, they're hard to find and don't appear often... so depends on what it's worth to you. I can't find any hits for an 'omega 2969', but I could see how someone could misread 2990.. but that's a bit concerning. As pitpro says, wait to see what's actually inside.
