Hi everyone, bought this off of FB marketplace. The guy has lots of 5 star reviews and deals in Omegas and other watches sent to him from his watchmaker in Vietnam. I wanted to know if this was fake. It is a 1962 pie pan constellation with caliber 561. I paid $2500 CAD for it, please let me know. Thank you very much.

That is very obviously a redial. Crown is worn, case isn't great either, and movement is dirty, but looks decent. At 2500 CAD, you overpaid a bit more than 2000 CAD.

Thanks for your reply, could you let me know how you know it’s a redial? Are redials done by Omega or is this one from a 3rd party? And by your comment do you mean it’s only worth 500 CAD or 2000?

The minute markers are all over the place, and the Omega logo isnt' even close to centered.

Redials are done by 3rd parties, usually some watchmaker who wanted to make it look 'better' and made it worse, or tried cleaning it and messing it up. Either way it kills the value.

And I'm saying: Its worth roughly $500 CAD at best. Movement is ~$250 of that, case isn't awful, so yeah, anyone who knows what they are looking at wouldn't pay $500 CAD for it.

How was the watch described in the listing? With watches being sent regularly from a watchmaker in VN, one would tend to expect a lot of put-together and restored pieces.

Thanks for your insight. This is how it was described:

Specification: 1962
Ref#: 14902 - 62 SC
Diameter: 34mm (excluding crown)
Caliber: 561- Running great!!!- Watch only.

I also asked him explicitly if it was all original and he claimed it was. Also asked explicitly about a redial and he said it wasn't.

No expert, but I would not be shocked to learn the dial is original. And while the OP definitely overpaid, the idea this is worth less than $365 USD is ridiculous. On eBay I would expect this to bring at least $1k and probably closer to $1500

You should be shocked, Omega didn't apply minute markers with a sharpie, and their logo with a shotgun.

With a redial, it isn't an authentic pie-pan. The only way this brings in that much is if you find suckers who don't realize it is a redial. So yes, I qualified it as "anyone who knows what they are looking at".

Dial is definitely not original and you should return it, since the seller said it was original. Show the seller how the cross hair is not centered between the Omega symbol, 10-o’clock is missing the printed hour marker, font is wonky, etc.

Because of the redial this is worth very little to collectors. However, in the current market this will likely fetch ~$1000 USD on an eBay auction. But just return it if you can.
