Moral of this story is ALWAYS charge your items and never use debit. At least with a charge you can always alert the card processor of an error and dispute the charge until it is cleared up, but with a debit card that money goes bye bye immediately. Better yet, use cash and the problem never arises.
So the guy had over £55,000 in a directly debitable account probably earning no interest. Really? For six nines of the 1st world population that charge would have been refused by the bank.
I think we are all missing the point. Isn't it simply good to overcharge Aussies. Are you with me brothers
