I won't be happy until you are driving an electric car charged by solar power.

😉
"acquiring new watches" is unfortunately consumption.
Perhaps "carefully and judiciously maintaining and preserving (and promoting the careful and judicious maintenance and use of) vintage watches" helps toward reducing that.

If the sea level keeps rising as Al Gore said it will fires will no longer be an issue.

Yes, let’s wait around and wait as all the world’s big emitters point fingers at each other and say “without them doing something there’s no point!” While the situation continues to get worse...

And how much of that coal burned in China is used to make products that Americans and people in other developed countries buy? We need to stop buying cheap throw away products. Instead buy good serviceable products and maintain them, like mechanical watches.

Refrain from making children. ::stirthepot::

Part of the reason why we chose to adopt children. Also, reducing meat consumption and eating locally sourced foods.

There is way too much lying going on regarding climate change.

Lets keep to the facts!!!!

It looks like this is the year that my wife joins me in reducing her meat consumption. I Have been sending her lots of cute chicken and pig photos.

I do enjoy those that posit that population control is the way to 'save the planet'. In other words, the 1st world folks (mostly white) aren't going to change their ways but, by golly, let those 3rd worlders (mostly black and brown) depopulate themselves. I know what I would call that.

The climate has always changed, always will. Have humans contributed somewhat over the last couple of hundred years, probably yes. But even the experts admit that even if we cut off all fossil fuel use NOW it would have a very minimal effect on the global temperature. So why should we completely upend a system that has brought billions of people out of abject poverty since the Industrial Revolution??? Wouldn't it be better to spend our money on technology to protect potentially vulnerable areas? Damn, Holland has a lot of land below sea level and they worked this out hundreds of years ago. Venice, they have a system too, completely messed up by incompetence and corruption.

Australia's situation is a lot like California's......very dry years eventually leads to fires. Why? The fuel for those fires is there because of a green fetish over the last 25 years to disallow clearing of dead trees and brush in order to keep it 'natural'. Read the stories of landowners that are prohibited and sued when they try to clean up their own properties. Greta Thunberg thundering 'how dare you?' is NOT going to advance any solution. She's being used by the activists for their own ends. Wisdom does not come out of a 16 year olds mouth, sorry.

The fewest people (%) are in poverty now than at any time in the history of the world. THAT'S GREAT NEWS. We have technology to mitigate whatever effects of climate change come to us.....let the economic systems work. The US is decreasing their CO2 output, not because of some silly Paris Agreement but because if money is to be made the system will mitigate the problem. The government can't do it.....they are not competent enough to lead a piss up in a brewery.

If using paper straws, or bringing your own bags to the grocery, or driving an EV makes you feel better go ahead and do it. But it's just virtue signaling, you aren't changing a damn thing. The ONLY green energy known to man today that contributes zero CO2 and is scalable to industrial size is nuclear energy, yet none of the people telling us we must turn off of all fossil fuels in 30 years mentions it. All they talk about is wind and solar, two of the least efficient ways to make power and not able to power modern, 21st century countries.

In any event here is recent article by one of the true green believers, George Monbiot. In 20 years or so farmers will be out of business, ditto cattle ranching. We will all be eating lab grown 'food' made from microbes and water. This is the kind of stuff that rational people just shake their head at, but many take this stuff seriously. Happy eating.

There’s a lot of misinformation about China based on outmoded impressions. Yes, they are still burning a lot of coal, but just try to get a license plate for an internal combustion vehicle in Shanghai.

They are also going huge on solar, especially for heating. We were there in 2011 and every building had solar. The people are also extremely efficient with their resources because they have to be. Although I cannot say they had a great regard for the environment in general, but neither do Americans on average. Per capita we dwarf China's CO2 emissions, and as I said before I suspect a good portion of their emissions are for manufacturing goods for westerners.

Read the IUPCC reports in climate change. They represent a huge group of very careful and scientifically conservative group who only makes claims that have overwhelming evidence. Those predictions have be dire and identify humans as the primary cause. In spite of having terrifying predictions, they have been consistently wrong and have had repeatedly adjust to worse predictions as the evidence accumulates. Climate change is real, and humans are the cause. What you choose to do with that information is up to you, but don't mock those who want to try to help the problem.

The USA needs to cut the department of defense budget, one of the single biggest consumers of fossil fuels in the world. 12,600,000 gallons of fuel every day. Why do they burn it? To protect fossil fuels!🍿

USA is not dependent on foreign oil anymore. Defense spending is to protect the Canadians
