I've owned a couple of APs most Royal Oaks Offshore. I know some love their bracelets, but I found them heavy and not to my liking. All my ROOs past and present had straps; velcro, rubber, and leather. I just like the look of the watch better without the metal bracelet. So... bracelet, yes or no and why?
Luxury sports watches from AP, PP, VC and others were designed to have integrated steel bracelets. Rubber, leather and other non-metal bracelets were later introduced to lower the price point because the metal bracelets were not cheap to produce, they required a lot of hand assembly and finishing. Buy what you like.
All a matter of taste and preference. I just seldom wear metal bracelets with any of my watches. I found the AP bracelet to be heavy and didn't care for the look. Price wasn't the issue in my case.
Bracelet baby! I can recognize that bracelet with my eyes closed, in a barn, underwater! Edit: and in the middle of of a forest fire (well, Californian)
Always buy bracelet. You can fit a leather on after. But I get what you mean by it being heavy. The off shore bracelets and designs are supposed to give it some more heft over the regular Royal Oaks.
My AP RO is bracelet. There's no way I would put that on a strap. If I owned a ROO, it would be the opposite.
