Wow that was today too? And the Phillips auction? Talk about concentrating all the good stuff in a small period of time.

We're definitely in high auction season! Besides the mega sale coming up at Phillips in just a few hours, get ready for the (at Phillips again) impressive Heuer-themed and Geneva Auction 6 sales coming up on Novemebr 11.

This will certainly bring more juice to vintage Omega collecting. I read comments on a couple articles about the 2915 that basically said “Omega? I guess I haven’t been paying any attention...really? Omega?”. ::facepalm1::

The Sub/Daytona guys are starting to smell the green... Fake DONs are being traded in dark smoky rooms... Stay tuned for more antics and runaway BINflation.

I feel like the word untouched shouldn't have been used to describe the bezel in the summary. It does mention wear in the full article though.

I enjoyed watching the Phillips auction on live stream last night, and obviously Paul Newmans 6239 rightly deserved its new world record. But i couldn't help thinking throughout the auction what a bargain this amazing 2915-1 was, compared to most of the other big ticket lots that were going through.

If anything it only highlighted what good value the vintage Speedy still represents i.m.o

I think the recent buyer of the 2915-1 may wake up today thinking they got a relative bargain!

Well if you compare the provenance and the rarity of the 2915 with something like the equivalent average at Philips, last night, of the Daytona’s at $264,000 which are neither as rare or as storied you can get a sense of the mismatch
