Aquired this 105.003 dial

what do you guys think?

 

Not with those rust spots around the lume plots.

Hope the price was commensurate .

Begs the question I guess, rough original dial or pretty relume? Which do you prefer?

 

To me it isn't attractive. Don't mind the brownish freckling, but I don't really care for the lume.

i think the spotting is indicative of water damage though...

 

Whether it's actually rust or not, it certainly looks like rust/water damage.

That dial is never going to be a show stopper unfortunately and certainly isn't attractive in it's current state. One of the occasions where I'd strongly consider a sympathetic re-lume.

get it mounted on a watch and try it out for a while. It probably looks better on the wrist than in macro pics.

I've certainly got at least one dial that is severely degraded, which I love.

It should be in an unpolished but beat up case, meteor bezel, with no paint on the hands.

It’s hard to find one that’s looks so bad it’s good though.

tried to get a better pic but im no good think its becasue im trying to photograph it in a holder it really does look better in the flesh than the pics has a overall brown tint to it

wasnt a bargin cost £1700

decided to send off to james hyman to do the relume

 

How much ??????………Was this another ‘VisionVintage’ special ?

 

its was on ebay quite a few had bid on it last one i saw for sale was £3000 all though it was in better condition

 

can't wait for the after pics!

Wow! Certainly not cheap.

It will look immeasurably better after james has worked his magic though!
