Watch the prelaunch NASA footage, an interesting moment when the Apollo 14 back-up astronauts join the prime crew...

Social media... ignorance is bliss... Reading most comments on the space-flown Apollo 14 Rolex GMT-master 1675 pilot watch it's clear most people have no clue about "Rolex being worn in space flight missions".
Remember already in October 1967 on X-15 flight 188 (fastest Mach 6.70) and on X-15 flight 190 William "Pete" Knight wore his Rolex GMT-master 1675 above an altitude of 50 miles (80 kilometers) high enough to earn USAF astronaut wings.
In April 1970, Apollo 13 CMP John "Jack" Swigert was the first to wear a Rolex to lunar orbit but Apollo 14 LMP Edgar Mitchell was the first to wear Rolex on the lunar surface as he wanted to gift both daughters something he had worn on the Moon. Besides his NASA-issued Omega Speedmaster number 77, Mitchell wore two personal wrist watches underneath the Apollo A7L space suit. Apollo 14 CMP Stuart Roosa and Apollo 17 CMP Ron Evans also carried their personal Rolex GMT-master 1675 to lunar orbit, while Apollo 17 Moonwalkers agreed to carry Evans's 1675 down to the Moon onboard Lunar Lander "Challenger".
Time-period NASA photos show that at least 20 Gemini-Apollo era NASA astronauts owned a personal Rolex wrist watch, some a Turn O'Graph 6202 or a Daytona 6240 but most owned a Rolex GMT-master 1675 pilot watch;
Aldrin, Borman, Carpenter, Cernan, Collins, Conrad, Cunningham, Engle, Evans, Glenn, Haise, Lovell, Mitchell, Pogue, Roosa, Shepard, Schirra, Swigert, Worden,...

The JB Champion bracelet on the GMT is a nice looking combination, one I’ve worn on a few occasions.

I also see a calendar attached to the bracelet in the enlarged picture.

For those interested in astronauts wearing Rolex, here's an idea for a Christmas tree gift:
This year Rolex opened its archives to author , who started a book series on the Rolex watches, the first book is available and takes an interesting look at the history of Rolex Submariner dive toolwatches.
Useless to say very interesting, albeit to see a photo of how a Submariner was attached to the "Trieste" bathyscaphe deep sea submersible, the book has a chapter on NASA astronaut turned aquanaut Malcolm Scott Carpenter who took leave from NASA & became director of Aquanaut Operations for SEALAB III in 1967.

The NASA astronauts' Rolex GMT-master pilot watches story continues....
Follow-on about the US Naval Academy crest Rolex GMT-master 1675 pilot watches as pointed out by TLIGuy in 2019:
In 1966, shortly after the Gemini VIa and VII missions, astronauts with an US Navy background where gifted a Rolex GMT-master 1675 during a ceremony at the Naval Academy Annapolis Maryland.
These were Walter "Wally" Schirra (class 1945), James "Jim" Lovell (class 1952) and Thomas "Tom" Stafford (class 1952) !
In fact, in 1966, Walter Schirra was promoted to Captain and it's interesting to see that both Wally Schirra's and James Lovell's GMT-master came with a Naval Academy logo on the dial, a superb gift by the Naval Academy Alumni Association!
We still have to look into the Rolex GMT-master 1675 Pepsi pilot watch gifted to astronaut Thomas Stafford who, post-Navy career was commissioned in the USAF but was US Naval Academy Class of 1952 !
Anyway, the story is 100% accurate as it was described in Walter Schirra's 1988 book "Schirra's Space" on page 164 !
