Alright gang, sorry for the delay. Heres the photos I took of the watch. Not shown is the bracelet, which is in equally mint condition with the exception of missing a single 516 end link :(

This is the original crystal which I gave a very mild buff but didnt go crazy as I didnt want it to lose its originality. As such there is still some haze to it, which you can see in the photos but none of which is on the dial. The dial is truly perfect with the very slightest graying-browning when viewed in direct sunlight. Not a spec on it though, and the lume matches perfectly.

Upon examining it closely, I dont believe this watch has ever even seen a cloth, let alone a polish. Sharp as a razor. Amazingly too, its holding a full 42.5 hour power reserve and only lost 14 seconds in 5 days. Pretty impressive.

Let me know what you guys think! Im no photographer but gave it a go. Happy Thanksgiving to those celebrating it!

    John

Very nice piece. I'm not trying to rain on any parades, but identical unused case-bands are still available, and I'm therefore a bit cynical when I see a pristine 50 year old case with no sign that a bracelet has ever been installed. So frankly the sharpness of the case is less impressive to me than the dial and hands, which are truly lovely.

Understood! We must be wary of the watches we see these days considering all the tom foolery and trickery that goes on. If you take a close look at the photo of the back of my watch you will see the lugs do have some markings from the bracelet, particularly the lug at the top of the photo, it does have a sizable knick in it from where the bracelet end link sits. Its rather hard to believe that this watch is indeed 51 years old, but it was stored for decades after essentially never being worn. In fact I am confident that the chips in the bezel insert are only there from being stored with its bracelet in a small baggy. A real survivor nevertheless! Thanks for your reply!

    Nice and sharp, excellent watch!
I would love to see it with a JB champion or a nice and thik leather strap.

It likely needs a service. Power reserve should be 48 hours, and often these will go over 50 when freshly serviced.

I’m sure it does, but I was under the impression the 70’s era 861 was 44 hours? Thus I was impressed by the 43~ it put out without having been serviced. Will be having it gone over soon.
