First post on the Omega side of the fence -- I had not realised how connected the Calibre11 and Omega forums are.

    Anyway, to the question:
I am definitely vintage, do my Omegas count as vintage too?

Bought new in 1982, but I think it was made in 1979. Don't wear it much, no-one invites me to events where I need a dress watch. The slide-rule is a bit of misdirection, for 8 years before buying that I'd been sitting in front of a large, even by today's standards, computer screen.

Bought last year, so I wasn't wearing it on the rally route in the background, that was sometime 1970-75 and I was wearing another make, known for rally and race timing. This Reduced is from 1993 I believe.

So are we vintage or should we pretend to be modern?

    Errrr, young at heart even.

I'm in the 30 years or more camp. For me, quartz will never be considered vintage but don't take that personally. That's solely my warped opinion.

The fine beer collector in me says that technically everything can be described as 'vintage', with the proviso that the year is stated (i.e. the 'vintage' of it's production is the year of production.) I have vintage beers from 2013, et cetera...

Pertaining to watches, though, the technicalities can be thrown out the window. Pre-quartz is vintage. 25+ years (older quartz and some mechanicals) is retro. More modern than that and it's just second hand.

The question of "vintage" pops up regularly here and I'm of the opinion that anything over 25 years old counts. Ain't nothing wrong with a Heuer either!

Even some TAGs are fairly OK ;)

Also in my opinion a quartz watch can't count as vintage..I only love mechanical watches..but this is only one opinion...:)

I must beg to differ. Hamilton Electric, Accutron are vintage ... ergo early quartz can be too. Although personally having to open the case to install a battery to wear them keeps me away.
