Indeed it could. Producing a fake, even of very low quality, must be a large amount of work. It seems like spelling should be the easiest part of getting everything needed for the operation set up.
These watches remind of those scam calls that I get allegedly from IRS or Justice agents who always have heavy Indian or Bangladesh accents yet identify themselves as Special Agent Tom Smith or Steve Jones.
