Hello OF i am trying to get some insight. I have a seamaster ref 2627 and I am trying to find a replacement dial and i was wondering if the dials for caliber 353 and 355 are interchangeable? I tried searching the web for some answers but i couldn't quite find anything, but i remember reading a long time ago that as long as the dial was made for the same deference case it should be fine.

    Any of you know?

The 355 is a calendar model, and it wouldn't surprise me if the pegs on the back of the 355 dial may be longer than the pegs on the non-calendar 353 model. Another question that pops up is whether the 353 and 355 movements were ever used in cases other than the 2627, and what differences there might be in the dials if and when the 353 and 355 were used in other case references. What are you trying to achieve? Best of luck in your search for answers.

trying to find the a replacement dial for

    https://omegaforums.net/threads/omega-seamaster-date-at-6-ref-2627.33328/

i have not had the case back opened ( i dont have anything better to do it with then a knife so i will take it to a watch maker to open it, so i am unsure of the movement.

From your post i gather mine can not be a 353 since it is a calendar? I will research this.

I just checked my information source again, and the 353 is a calendar model! Too early in the morning. The 355 dial has the date window at the 6:00 position. I don't know about the window position of a 353 movement/dial. If the window location is different between the two movements, the date rings would be different. The date ring from a date at 6:00 355 movement would be different to the date ring of any related movement that had the window at the 3:00.

The only difference is that the 355 has a swan neck regulator.

The family tree, maybee the "redesign" is the swan neck regulator.

Please keep in mind that just because a dial will fit on a particular movement, does not mean that it will fit the watch properly. Dials can be different diameters and have different profiles so it might not work in the case.

    Cheers, Al

AFAIK, dials for cal. 353 have a square date window, while those for the later cal. 355 have a trapezoidal date window. So even if they will interchangeably "fit", they would not be correct.

    That's not necessarily true, Adam.

My watch is cal. 353 and has the trapezoidal date window.

The square ones were usually US market versions ("Swiss", not "Swiss Made" on dial). I've never seen a cal. 355 with a square window.

While I think the dials would be interchangeable within the Ref. 2627 with the cal. 353, I don't know if the Ref. 2757 cases for cal. 355 are exactly the same size. So while the dials theoretically should fit the two movements, they may not fit the cases correctly.

    Hope this helps,

Yes there was both model overlap and service inter-replacement for the two dials on each model , 2627,2757
