    Hi

I was just wandering if on this forum are also ladies who collect watches and read this forum?
    Or it's only a man thing? :)

    Regards

I miss Meganfox. Had a gal from Singapore. Loved her manly watches. Was quite a character with some fun posts on this forum. A feral rodent bit her and she also bit herself. Made one wrong move and she was booted off. Definitely could use more female WIS.

Seeing @Syrte rock a Zenith chronograph is quite a feat.

And if you want to go back a couple decades - a certain Nina Rindt rocked a Universal Geneve Chronograph.

@GuiltyBoomerang, so flattering to get a mention alongside that Nina Rindt picture!! I don’t think I can ever expect a nicer compliment

As for women watch enthusiasts and collectors, there’s only a handful on line (less here than on mass platforms), and we are only a tiny minority, but a watchmaker in France once told me he has several female clients who collect watches but don’t go on line.

@shishy “watchgirloffduty” is a professional and there are a handful too, but IMHO that’s a different ball game.

@EatMan I’ll confess I also miss her a lot. Her posts were incredibly fun and colorful.

However I had some private exchanges with her and also with the mods shortly before she was booted out, I tried to help but let me just say there was much more going on behind the scenes, and no easy answer. It took much more and it was much more complex than one wrong move.

I have a couple of men's watches (Bulova Astronaut, Rotary L189 chronograph, Rolex Cellini) but mostly I collect women's watches that are miniature versions of men's watches (SM 120 566.0007, ladies C-case Constellation, ladies Seawolf, Hamilton 986A). I tend to like watches in the 28-34mm range so even vintage Omegas are a bit big most of the time.

Most women I know who wear a watch at all prefer a smaller case size mens or boys watch to the run of the mill ladies watches. Of those who wear smaller ladies watches most don't bother to set or wind them or change batteries if it runs down. They only wear then as decorations.
A woman who really needs to keep track of the time wants a watch thats big enough to read the time easily, just as we would.

Since I prefer smaller case sizes (26mm to 35mm for 50's and earlier) I've often had comments on my watches from ladies who would like one of similar size.

The older 20's through early 50's 26mm mens Tonneau watches are often mistaken for ladies watches. My Ingraham made Tower for example is a case size marketed in the 30's as a gent's, boy's or ladies watch with only the band size and color denoting the difference.

I am not really acollector (yet) ;)
But I inherited my grandmothers ebel because I am the only one in the family with a small enough wrists to wear it.
Recently I discovered some watches the men in the family wore and started researching them, that's how I stumbled across this forum.
My great grandfathers watch is a ref. CK 2451-2 from the 1940s. It is small enough so I can wear it myself.
My grandfathers watches are a Seamaster with an f300 Hz Movement from the 70s and a gold Constellation with an integrated bracelet.
Unfortunately I wont b abel to wear the Constellation because the bracelet is way to big for me.
I love how the they are most likely all the watches my grandfather ever needed. The Seamaster was very clearly his every day watch, as it has some pretty deep scratches. I assume the Constellation was only worn on special occasions, very mutch a dress watch. I am planing to take it to an Omega shop to get it opened and hopefully figure out which model it is as I haven't come across a very similar watch during my research online.

I will likely start collecting vintage mens watches at some point as the case size on all of the ones that are already in the family seem very wearable to me. The 40s Chronograph with the movement that would later evolve into the 321 seems like a perfect starting point to me.

Thanks for sharing those, I especially like the two divers :)
And I like the concept of collecting mini versions of men’s models. The Connie is pretty cool.
