Aqua Terra 19mm End Link Gap

Hi all,

I recently purchased the official rubber strap for my 2024 19mm Aqua Terra. I’ve noticed that there is a gap at the end between the watch and strap. Is this normal?

I’ve been back to the boutique where they changed the spring bars, but the problem is still present.

Any advice appreciated. Pics attached.

That's not normal. Usually, it's a problem caused by a spring bar that's not thick enough, but since they've already tried replacing the spring bar at the boutique, that eliminates that possibility.

Does this happen to both the top and bottom sides or just the top? If just the top, try installing the bottom strap at the top to see if it exhibits the same behavior. If not, the strap is out of spec and can be replaced. If it still has the gap, it's something with the watch's lug hole position.

You know, now you've mentioned the width of the SB, I've looked at all the ones they provided. They're all the same diameter (at least to the naked eye). What should they be? 1.8mm? I did swap the positions of the strap and the problem is still present. It is also present on both top and bottom straps. Thank you.

They're all 1.8mm except for the ones used on the mesh bracelet. If the gap is happening to both sides and we assume the boutique is competent and not using the thin or curved spring bars on it, then the problem is likely the strap. Where did you source the strap? If you got it from the boutique, explain the situation and try to get them to swap it. But also to eliminate the spring bar issue completely, confirm with them that they are using part number 068st2207.

Are you sure, an OEM rubber strap and/or bracelet for 19mm lugwidth should have the 2206 IMO.

My brother has a 20mm AT on the rubber strap that comes with the 2207.

19mm
Strap - 068st2207
Bracelet - 068st2206

-2208 is correct for the 20mm model on rubber.

No idea if it's different on this model because of the little metal piece in the center, but traditionally, the bracelet uses a 1mm shorter spring bar than if on a strap.

Well according to Archer the 20mm rubber strap AT has the 2207's installed from the factory.

Archer obviously knows way more, so I'm gonna go stand in front of a mirror and summon him by saying the name 3 times.

2207’s are for 20 mm bracelets. Generally straps use the next longer version, which would be the 2208. If someone can give me the part number of the strap I’ll double check for this specific one tomorrow.

Sometimes the straps have these molded end links that are very similar to a bracelet in terms of access to get the spring bar in and out. With this one have a steel piece in the end links, maybe it calls for the 2207.

OP 19mm 220.12.38.20.02.001
Confirmed 2206

20mm 220.12.41.21.03.002
2207 as above

These molded rubber and steel end links are more like what you find on a bracelet than a traditional strap.

This is a major help. Thank you everyone. Also, can I check that the metal end link is the same for both 19mm and 20mm?

No, it appears they are different part numbers.
