Is it just me or is there a nod to a Speedy like face with Sub-Dials. And the moon!

I will say that I am pretty impressed at what they have done with their phone cameras as well as the post processing features.
Makes my DSLR and Adobe Lightroom seem useless....

I'm thinking about getting an apple watch in the very near future. No shame it is pretty convenient to synch with other apple devices.

camera is not the body. its the lens. No matter how much improvement Apple does to its camera, it will never be able to replace a dslr with customized lenses.
If you feel that your dslr is useless then there can be 2 possibilities -
1- You were taking pictures in auto mode all this time
2- You were using kit lenses.

A decent lens fitted on any dslr body in the hands of a skilled photographer will anyday be a much superior setup when comparee against any phone camera.

    I was being facetious.
I will continue to lug all my shit around when I can.
But is nice to have such technology right in your pocket that you can whip out in literally a second and still produce almost DSLR level photos as well as a slew of post processing features.
That is vs. taking my camera out of the bag, deciding which lens to use...then deciding I should use a different lens, then making sure the lighting is good and my settings are correct, oops forgot to turn my ISO down from last time let's start all over again...5 min later I have the picture. Then I go home and edit for a few hours.
Hard to do all of that when I'm trying to take pictures of my always in motion 6 month old daughter.

I have one, but I hardly wear it.
I probably wouldn't even have one but It is my wife's old one that was laying around when she upgraded to a new one.
I only wear it around the house or if I'm "working out".
Otherwise it just sits on the charger.
Don't get me wrong it is pretty neat...but I prefer to wear my "real" watches lol.

I gave up on DSLR’s too much to lug around. I bought a small Leica because a it all about the lens baby!

Will not wear an Apple Watch, ever...

I have a Nikon with many lenses, both zoom and fixed. I agree that lenses make the difference together with the skills of the owner. At the same time I think that when your wife is on the beach and you have only the phone with you is nice to rely on very good lenses and the blurry effect that an open shutter can give you.

All in all, I’m very diplomatic and I think that both a reflex and a good camera on the phone are needed. Depends on the situation.

Honestly what I’m impressed are the new functionality of the Apple Watch, doing EKG and fall sensor. My parents are getting older and older, such functionalities would be quite useful. If they fall and I’m not around I can get a notification..

It's a good thing to push though, frankly. I have a Pixel 2 and my wife has an Iphone 6s. She's held off on upgrading in hopes that the camera on the Xs or Xr would at least be as good as the one on my phone. Unfortunately up until now (if keynote pictures can at all be believed) the Iphone has seriously lagged on low light performance. Below is an example - the first two pictures are taken with the Iphone 8 plus dual camera - which isn't that different than the X, and the second set were taken at the same time with my Pixel 2. No flash on either set of pictures, and straight from the camera with no post processing. The iphone 8 pictures were texted to me, which of course does reduce the quality, but I think you will agree that this doesn't really make any difference. I used the reduced quality Pixel photos too, to make it more fair.

    Iphone 8 Plus:

    Wow big difference there.
I have an 8+ and while I have not really shot anything in low light, I notice that my pictures tend to come out a bit "cool" in color when there is plenty of light.
It's like it tries to adjust out some of the warmth intentionally.
Overall though I find it to be pretty good.

It should be iPhone X versus Pixel 2. The 8 is outdated so it’s obviously not the “best” representation of Apples camera capabilities. Just a thought. The X may not be “that different” but it is a better camera.

Those Pixel pics are beautiful. I’ve heard great things.

FYI Xr has the same camera as the 8. They just added some software to mimic what the X and new X’s can do with portrait mode.

I think that my Nikon with a 35 mm 1.8 would do a photo like the pixel. Is amazing.

However I’m a bit concerned about the photos of the iPhone 8 Plus.
I got an iPhone 8, so single camera, and for low light it performs better than above...

I thought when I was listening to the talk yesterday that they said the Xr camera is the same exact camera as the Xs, but just the wide angle and not the telephoto.

I think they are marketing convenience, and have been for a long time now. And for me, convenience is often worth the price tag.

Call me a slave to marketing but meh, it works for me!
