Apparently my Grandpa wore a Speedmaster Professional X-33 (gen 2) in the year before he died

My dad was going through his safe and this seemed to be the only interesting find in there. The fake gold Rolex was a bit of a let down. Thought y'all would enjoy this raw. I plan to replace the battery, clean it up, and try to track down a titanium bracelet for it to replace the trashed kevlar strap. If anyone has a line on a used bracelet feel free to get in touch. Also this is my first post! Cheers.

    Great memento.

In this instance, it is one vintage watch that I would send to Omega if it needed more than a battery change and a basic service.

You'll be amazed at the amount of "stuff" that'll be hiding under that caseback, make sure you brush/puff it all out before you remove the inner cover.

Oh my, what happened to the leather backing on that strap?

TI bracelet for the x33 is a must-have. Mine is so light when compared to my regular seamaster and speedy bracelets. I just wish the endlinks weren't so big otherwise I'd stick it on my other watches. The x33 case is just so thick that I hardly wear it.

Unrolled some rugs in storage this week, found one with a decaying mouse corpse inside! Yuck.

Although based on timing he only wore it probably a year and a half at most, I'm guessing since he was a fisherman and had a boat that the band got trashed by seawater and sweat corrosion. Only other explanation would be poor storage since. Let me know if y'all have any good strap suggestions while I try to track down a bracelet. I'm scared to think how much Omega would charge for such a thing.

I have an Omega boutique local to me (multiple even). I know Omega has some crazy 4 or 500 service they can do with these (Swatch center I believe in Culver City), but I think I'll just start with a battery and a band and see how it goes. After all it's a Quartz that only really got used for a year or two.

Nice find there @TheBucketOfTruth - the bracelets are expensive as and when they come up, and run to close on £1000 new from Omega now.

In good news, the straps, which are available in Black, Red, or Green, are still available from an Omega Boutique, and are £115 a piece (they come in regular or long), these are the part numbers:

    Green - 98000070 or 98000070L
    Red - 98000071 or 98000071L
    Black 98000069 or 98000069L

Budget friendly option to get this on your wrist where it should be

Hey thanks for the tip. I'd throw up a WTB post but I have to slog my way to 200 posts first. I'll check out those part numbers.

Omega is the cheapest place for these chap - they go for double RRP on eBay for some reason... and Ofrei is selling them for even more...
