Very interesting that this watch sold as an auction format on July 15 for GBP 26,866.00 and is now back up as a BIN for GBP 39,995.00. Gotta love dealer markup. Some slightly brighter photos and a 13k pound price hike.

Serial is still 5 years too early for a real one. Not sure the pushers are right either. Have mailed the seller about the serial, will post what if anything comes back.

I may even report it as a fake, which is surely what it is...

It’s been authenticated by eBay. If I had the funds I would take eBay to task on this one. Shut down their joke of authentication.

Depends on the definition of authentic... it’s all Omega... and technically correct it’s just not the movement that came with it(at least that is all that is prove able). The listing never states it as left the factory.

We already know the box is from another source... but since when has that mattered.

    Definition of authentic
1a : worthy of acceptance or belief as conforming to or based on fact
    • paints an authentic picture of our society
b : conforming to an original so as to reproduce essential features
    • an authentic reproduction of a colonial farmhouse
c : made or done the same way as an original
    • authentic Mexican fare
I guess Miriam Webster agrees with eBay. My definition of authentic is a little more strict.

I know of a lodge which month after month raffles the same bottle of whisky. Everyone is complicit in buying tickets, the draw takes place and a winner is named but the real winner is the chosen charity which receives the proceeds month after month. Is the same thing happening here with various sales commission beneficiaries?

Unlikely as it'd be advertised as such. There's also a signed, first edition of a Neil Gaiman book that is the subject to the same phenomenon. Every few months it pops up for sale with the proceeds going towards Heifer International, iirc

Interesting read, I've been off the forums for a long while and just catching back up but the back story on this one and the extensive previous discussion do make for a good read.

Looking through the previous threads on this the watch and the Apollo watches, the watch in question (discussed here and in the open forum thread) also appears to have at some point being owned by a forum member as there is a clear image of it in someone collections (unless my eyes deceive me) in an ealier discussion on the Apollo-Soyuz

Wait a second please but ... by chance in my previous thread someone had not said that this watch would have been sold in pieces ... ???

for the record ... in 40 years we have seen on the market one (1) A / S dial and ten bracelets 1168 ... too little to assemble a complete Apollo-Soyuz watch ... what do you think?

    what's happening is incredible!

the market has overwhelmed everything and everyone (including my research) and this shows that in the end it is not so important if the Apollo Soyuz clock DOES NOT HAVE A MOVEMENT INCLUDING BETWEEN 39.180.XXX AND 39.181.000.
I believe that in the world there are even more watches 100/150 OMEGA APOLLO SOYUZ and if a collector, without economic problems, is interested in owning this very rare watch .... he buys it immediately and above all without asking too many questions about the movement.

This A/S watch has reached the highest price ever paid before, what a show, this Apollo-Soyuz is out of batch!!!
