Apollo 8 DSOM

Hi All - I am a first time poster so apologies if this is in the wrong thread...

I have a few Omega watches, but my favourite and daily wearer is an Apollo 8 DSOM...problem is the wee loops on the strap used to tidy up the tag end of the strap keep failing...I am tired of forking out 300 odd everytime I need a new strap....

I see some folk here have replaced the strap with a deployant equivalent...so questions are

a) any feedback on the deployant strap....I assume it is a lot better for heavy wear?

b) anyone have the deployant strap 032CUZ011562 - the local AD said they cannot get it? anyone have a view on the cordura plain black equivalent? does anyone know the part# for that?

c) also which clasp would be better 032CUZ011562 or 032CUZ011562 ....these seem to be easier to get but want to wait til I have a strap in hand first

thanks all
RB

I have the CUZ011562 strap, purchased from the OB in Short Hills (NJ) about 18 months ago. Would suggest contacting an OB to see if they can obtain. The clasp is CTZ002303; it is ceramic and titanium.

I also have a problem with the DSOM (not Apollo 8). I am not comfortable with the strap because take a lot of time to put the watch on the wrist but because it wasn't a daily wear for me it wasn't very annoying. I think the deployant model will more convenient for a daily wear.

0025CTZ002303 -- MSRP $410 Ti Ceramic deployant clasp
0032CWZ003216 -- MSRP $250 black strap (red stitching on the inner surface)

I called the Chicago Omega Boutique last week, spoke with an SA named Chloe, and had the item the next day. In stock, and she was great to work with

That looks very sharp, I actually thought the Ti/Ceramic clasp would be a lot more than that considering typical ceramic pricing

For me, one of the cool things about the Apollo 8 was the yellow stitching on the strap to compliment the face... that said, $300 every few months starts to add up.

Aren't the "wee loops" also called keepers? Seems to me that you should able to buy some by themselves or even use a small rubber band to perform the same function.

That said... the Omega deployment strap is kind of pricey, and there are hundreds if not thousands of straps out there. I've had custom-made straps with my material and color choices made for less than the cost of one Omega strap.

I liked the padded black strap with the yellow stitching on the Apollo 8, but one of the things with Speedmasters is the (usual) constant theme of black dials and black straps, and in this case a black ceramic case to boot. Instead of shelling out over $700 (incl tax) for a new strap and ceramic deployant buckle which gives the same look as the standard tang buckle I went with a custom strap from my usual go to guy, George, at Genteel Handmade. Just to be different for summer wear I ordered a padded yellow calf strap with grey stitching for $170 paired with an Artem black PVD Richard Mille style spring loaded deployant buckle for $73, so less than $250 total. The Artem RM style buckles are really great and give a luxury feel when opening and closing them, I have them on various watches including my ST1 and ST2. Never be constrained with what Omega thinks is the correct strap, they are very conservative in their approach. Think differently!

I really like the look of the strap you had done here. I recently picked up aGrey Side of the Moon Meteorite and agree that the options out there from Omega leave a lot to be desired if you want to branch out a bit

I have this strap on my DSOTM black black and have no qualms with it so far.
