When Omega introduced the Speedmaster Dark Side of the Moon back in 2013, I was destined to buy one. An amazing full ceramic piece with their in-house developed chronograph. What more could you wish for? That came only five years later, with the introduction of the Apollo 8. Well, a year later (2014), Omega introduced […]

    Mine says hello.

A great piece on the wrist.

Rapidly turned into my favourite watch and rivals my 16710 for wrist time. With the black black strap on it is surprisingly versatile and I’ve worn with a suit. Terrific watch.

One of my favorite modern Speedmasters.Thinner than the DSOTM and manual winding.Dial is simply stunning.

Looks good but a bit too much going on on the dial for my taste.

Disagree with one point in the article, imo the minute racing dial is a highlight!

Lots to like about the Apollo 8 but found it an awkward fit on my smallish wrist. A very striking and even engrossing piece for sure.

I think it looks much better in person than in photos but I'm not very keen on the yellow details, would've preferred if they were white to keep it simpler.

I feel the same way...but, I still have yet to have one in my collection! I'm still waiting on my wallet to recover from the 50th purchase!

As a detached observer, I can understand how this model appeals. However (and in my opinion only) The PCA limited edition is less cluttered and just as good a use of yellow accents :)

Maybe, but with only 99 made and the current market price of around $18-19k it's not a viable option for many people.

I was looking at this watch, I like it, but not sure about the yellow...

I also love this watch - it's on my list. My dilemma is that I've been waiting for a Rolex Deep Blue and might have to pay for one at a moments notice when it comes in, and so I've had to hold off buying other cool watches like the Apollo 8. If I love the Deep Blue >>> I might sell my SD43 to help fund the Apollo 8, with more than pocket change left over. Or, if I get the call for my ceramic Daytona which do I choose?

I’d go Apollo (and I’ve had the black ceramic Daytona). There are only so many Rolex I could have as they all follow a similar pattern. The Apollo 8 would be a great change up.

I'm leaning towards the Deep Blue first (my AD knows I'm ready to pay the day he calls), and then pick up the Apollo 8 if I decide to sell the SD43 after I get the Deep Blue.

I think the ceramic Daytona will wear a little small on my wrist - I've sold all my 5 digit Rolex and only have the Maxi case models now, for a 7.5" wrist.

It does wear more like a 5 digit, yes. See how you go. I thoroughly reccomend the Apollo 8. It really is a great watch - so light and comfortable.

I never thought I’d like it, but it steals wrist time from my 16710 and I never thought that would happen.
