50 years ago today Apollo 17 left Earth for the last manned mission to set foot on the moon.
C’mon Omega some of us are waiting patiently (well not that patiently obviously )

Awaiting a 2025 " 50 years Apollo-Soyuz Test Project "
As their 1976 " Apollo Soyuz " Speedmaster was the best Omega chronograph ever, it didn't even have the name "Speedmaster" on the dial !

Well, it landed on the moon on the 11th... maybe then?

But on the other hand, given Omega does not do any (numbered) limited editions anymore, it has become less fashionable to launch commemorative editions it seems.

So 3 more chances:
Arrival to the moon.
Moment leaving the moon.
Arriving back to earth safely.

Option 2 may be the best alternative.

In the old Omega world a 50th Anniversary Apollo 17 would be a no brainer, but their new policy of very few special editions would seem to preclude it. Snoopy has proved to be difficult for Omega and although an Apollo 17 wouldn't have the mass appeal of a Snoopy, I'm not sure Omega would want to do a special watch for this event, especially after they just did the Bond 60th. I think Omega is done with their special space watches for awhile, they'll be no 55 year anniversary models, but maybe a 60th model for some Apollo mission. The golden age of Speedmaster limited editions is over, we complained so much about about all the LE's that Omega listened! No mas.

Continuing your final spanish words, we have a say:

The 60th Anniversary Bond watch was announced very late, missing the date by almost 2 months. I was surprised that they actually did one. So if there is a 50th Anniversary Apollo 17, it'll probably be late as well. But I have my doubts and tend to agree that Omega's recent strategy seems to have changed.

3 more Tuesdays left in the year. Maybe something will drop between now and end of the year. Hopefully Omega keeps up with the first Tuesday of the year Speedmaster drop.

Let me post a better photo
In fact this NASA-issued n° 28 Omega Speedmaster 105.003 was worn by astronaut Eugene Cernan on Gemini IX strapped with velcro over his David Clark spacesuit (June 1966) and afterwards considered a lucky charm token, Cernan wore it on a Jacoby Bender steel mesh bracelet underneath the Apollo spacesuit on both Apollo 10 (May 1969) and Apollo 17 (December 1972).
The wrist watch can be seen in several NASA mission photographs and here's how it looks like, completely original without bezel on display in the Omega museum in Bienne - Switzerland.

Note the different position of the chronograph hand in our photos versus the photo on the Omega website 😉

I can't remember, but who owns this watch? NASA or the Cernan family? Has anything been done to it since its last mission?

Another video with a mistake as this Speedmaster 105.003 was worn underneath the A7LB spacesuit on a steel mesh JB champion bracelet !
🤦
