Thanks for the great read. If you are interested and have 45 minutes here is a fantastic documentary on the development of the DSKY computer.

It’s astounding what was done with what we would consider minimal computer processing power.

Highly recommend this immersive podcast .

In depth, analytical description of the Apollo 11 mission with lots of new interviews combined with archive recordings and a great Hans Zimmer soundtrack. Makes you realise how amazing this feat was in 1969 - the background story to the 12.02 alarm for example is amazing to learn about, as is the fact that the average age of the guys in mission control was just 27. Awe inspiring stuff.

I know there’s lots of space nuts out there that will love this - hope it’s available outside the UK...

The only problem is that it’s convincing me more and more that I need to get myself a Speedy Pro...

Came across this YouTube channel that documented how a bunch of really smart fellows restored one of the AGCs (that was in private hands) in time for the 50th anniversary. Lots of very cool content! The guy who spearheaded the restoration is a SpaceX engineer that even created a simulator that one could “fly” the landing using the real AGC. To think they started doing this in a hotel room!! Plus this linked episode showed them meeting a bunch of the original engineers that worked on the Apollo program. Recommend watching all the parts of this series!
