In the USA Sold only in boutiques to previous watch customers. Delivery next summer. $5,000 refundable deposits due now. No other information. No watch pics, specs, prices yet.
Anyone else heard anything about this? Wondering why Omega would require a $5000 deposit (who knows how much the watch will cost). If so, maybe this is to limit the number of people reserving spots and not actually buying?
A friend just got this response from the OB a few min. ago in DC. 'We were, however we are no longer able due to some constraints; there not being any watch, allocation or any information besides the assumption that there will be one. I will put you at the top of our list as you are an established client with us in the boutique. As soon as we are able to take deposits again, I will let you know. I apologize for the confusion with the forums.' Seems to be some confusion.
I suspect it will look a lot like a Speedmaster -- only so much you can do with them. Since the initial post indicated deposits are fully refundable, I'd rather be on the list sooner rather then later. Once aesthetics and pricing are known then it will be easy to decide whether or not to cancel. Heck, right now my money is probably safer with Omega then in stocks, and at 0% interest while Omega has it will return almost as much as my savings account does And at this point there was not even a request for a deposit, so it is just getting on the list for when they know how they are supposed to move forward. If there truly will be 3 variants, this would would be for the non-precious metal LE. Otherwise it would make more sense to pick up an 'unlimited' on the secondary market after prices decline. and that may turn out to the be the case with the LE as well.
I was told $7,000 deposit and added to the wait list to be confirmed with corporate as soon as they start taking orders
I will repeat my statement that I am disappointed that there is only going to be three limited editions. I am sure Omega forgot an 0. 30 limited editions sounds more like Omega
Leave a deposit in the UK and you have a leaf ally binding contract to supply that item, if you don’t you breach the contract. A Porsche dealer got done here on an RS, took a deposit, failed to supply, sued and had to stump up a huge amount of cash.
AD in Texas says rumors regarding deposits are false given they have no details on any watches, but they will add me to the list. Whatever that means.
I can assure you the rumors aren't false. My AD took 3 deposits for $5000 from 3 different customers. Me being one of them
Not debating the autheicity of your experience with your AD. Only relaying my experience with my own AD and their response. My feeling is that either Omega is only offering preorders to a small selection of higher volume boutiques (eg NYC, London, etc) or it really is a free for all and is up to the discretion of the AD to decide when and how to place a pre order.
I bought my first Speedy for the 25th anniversary of Apollo 11... the open case back was a nice touch and the watch had no obvious other anniversary features... I might be interested in the 50th anniversary Apollo 11 LE Speedy if it came with a drop end chronograph hand... subtle touch delivering the chronograph in a lunar landscape themed cubic crater box ...
