Might be a bit steep for no box and papers

I have dealt with him before. Very reliable. Known on many forums to be one of the Japanese 3 most trusted,

Not sure, with box and papers going for more these days. Perhaps make him an offer.

What's the going rate for a full set these days?

There's no doubt its one of the best LEs they ever made, especially aesthetically, and they didn't make a huge number of them either so demand for them is high.

Forum member yande seems to have boxes and instructions for around 100US. Would be missing the cards and Apollo 11 insert and thus not "original". I agree with dsio, it's a real beauty. I sent George a PM to see if he can source a complete one for me, but going to keep an eye on this.

I still prefer the Gemini IV but I'm biased, and I'd love to have both, the two best pandas IMO.

$4000-5500. with asking up to 6000. Rough averaging around $4500.

The box for Apollo 11 35th anniv. is unique to that watch. I do not believe that Yande has that.

It depends whether you're buying it to wear or to collect really, I didn't buy the Gemini IV thinking oh this will be valuable in 10 years, I bought it thinking damn that's a good looking watch I'd love to have. Not sure about the Apollo 11 35th but the Gemini IV box is made from the same crappy imitation leather that sheds like a cat with alopecia as the Omega red boxes so they end up looking fairly crap after a while anyway.

Which is why mine came in this :D :

Dealers had to buy these from Omega separately and often provided them as a perk for favored customers.

Found this on TZ from a well know seller. I have only talked with her but never bought.

It cost me about $400 to convert my 3572.50 to a 35th LE. Might be a cheaper way to go, then you can start looking for a Gemini 4.

It's been said already but the seller is legit. I mostly want to comment on the no box and no papers issue. This is just my opinion, but I've been through an experience recently, having to make a decision to buy a limited edition watch without the special box and papers it came in, so I'd like to share this experience here. I'm normally a buyer who insists on a complete package (box, papers, cards, hang tag, etc.) and I feel incomplete without them. This is particularly true for limited edition or special edition watches that come with unique boxes, numbered paperwork, etc.. I'm not a flipper, its just that I like having everything as it was originally sold, and if the watch comes without box/papers, it will be very hard or impossible to get them afterward. Even if you don't plan to sell later on, I think resale value should always be taken into account at time of purchase.

So, I had the opportunity to buy my grail watch, but without box and papers. The watch was mint, everything I wanted, and I negotiated a price that I was very satisfied with. In the moment of truth, I had to decide: can I live without the box and papers? Now its possible that boxes come up on fleabay so you could always try and get lucky piecing the package together afterward. I decided to buy the watch, assuming I would never locate the special box for it, and that I would be happy with my decision. Within 48 hours after purchase, I had regrets. You can tell yourself "you wear the watch, not the box", but for me, it was a splinter in my brain that bothered me. Thankfully, I have a lead on a box for my grail that will be enough for me to be satisfied.

So, my conclusion: if you prefer to buy with box/papers, you will have regrets buying a naked watch no matter how good the price is, it will stick in the back of your head and bother you, alot. Take that into account when you have your moment of truth. Good luck.

If you're buying to keep then I wouldn't worry about box & papers. But for resell box & papers will fetch higher.

Thanks for all the input. While I am not buying just for resale down the road (I really do like the look), I would probably go nuts without as much of the original components as I could get my hands on. Think I'll wait until a complete or near complete set shows up. A Forum member is tryimng to source one for me. Patience Luke Skywalker. :whistling:

What is the difference in value with and without a box? Let's say a LE in mint/very great condition with all papers/box sells for $4,500, how much would same watch sell for without box/papers?

I do not know, because there is no way I can imagine spending $4500 on a watch.

I do recall a time when I said there was no way I would spend $500 on a watch. I recall saying no way to $1,000 and to $2,000. Those thresholds have since past.
