Hello dear omega experts,

I'm about to pull the trigger in either of these two connies.

First one is a steel with rose gold details ref. 2852

Second is a full gold ref. 14381/2

Can you spot anything cosmetically weird or off on them?

Thanks

Guiro

Do you consider mold and/or water-damage to be cosmetically weird?

+1 for redial on the second. The scripts are off - the “n”s in constellation were the first thing to jump out at me.

I think you have to be really into the dial for the first one. Which you may be.

There is a second script font for later Constellation's with that style "n". I think that dial came from a later Connie (cal. 7xx)and was swapped into that watch at some point. The 1st watch has a sharp case and nice bevel still in the bezel, but the dial has the measels. The 2nd watch's case has been polished and I believe the wrong dial for that case.

Those are two very different watches, are you sure it’s what you want? No need to rush.

Hmm
If cosmetics is important get the 2nd one
If period correctness is important get the 1st one
If condition is important get neither

This.
The 2852 has a nice case -it’s just a shame about the spotty dial unless you really like that kind of patina.
The 14381/2 is polished to death, has the wrong crown and is definitely redialled.
It is possibly a gold deluxe dial going by the big flat onyx inserts.
For comparison it should look like this 14382

Thanks, @Buck2466 - I must admit I hadn’t considered a later dial. It just looked wrong!

I just thought there is a difference between the state of the indexes and the hands. Is it just me?

Yeah, I agree.. the thing is both are in good price. But since the second is a redial, I might go for the first.

What is a good price?
If the first is cheap it would make an interesting talking point.
The second is worth melt value plus the movement value.

It looks wrong because it is wrong, for me a definite redial and not a dial swap.

And agreed, watch 1 has a great case and poor dial. OP if you are going to go for the 2852 then be sure to check the case back, if the watch has pink gold hands and indices it needs to have a pink gold medallion too
