Too many words in that description, but still not enough to overcome THAT DIAL, LoL One good nugget- "Please take a moment to enlarge and view all the detailed pictures." Always do this
Poor dial... It happens I guess to think you're going to improve the watch, then a not so good guy does this to it :/ but why ask so much money for the watch when it's plain to see the dial is bad ?
ok, does not seem to attract curiosity. a few signs in the engraving. the strokes "lean" a different way. the A runs into the stroke. the arrow of the kings has a slight mishap. i`ve seen many sloppy engravings in the 1970 version. but not this. and i had the mvmt. number checked. non UK delivery. which can happen due to later replacement..... maybe a few other mil. seamster 300 collectors can chime in. kind regards., achim
I was under the impression that all SM300 Mil watches had the circle T logo on the dial, but not this one ! I notice that the description says 'an original dial' - it does not say 'THE original dial' It seems to me a description designed to deceive - my humble opinion only.
Achim, my own 1970's RN SM300 "A" runs into the stroke, apart from that the photos are too poor imo to say much more. The watch is pretty poor, case back looks extremely heavily polished which might explain some of the distortion? Shame about the dial, looks a nice old original (civilian, but pre 1970) one with a very poor relume. Bezel looks modern Luminova Edit, see mine below, not too different from the eBay one after a heavy polish, what do you think? And another '70 example
Engraving is original, just heavily overpolished, the caseback shines like a mirror. To me the strokes look perfectly normal for a mid 1970 0552 with the "narrow + fat" engraving. Quite often the A runs into the stroke, most often at the right side. AFAIK the engraving was done with a pantograph. So the watchmaker (or whoever did it) had to choose where to start, in which direction to go and where to stop. Seems to be an issued caseback on a non-issued watch. Another two examples with the stroke running into the A: PS: it's back in the bay: http://www.ebay.de/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=192121814797Purchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network
Fixed lug bars appear too small, in addition to relumed dial and new replacement bezel. But movement can be confirmed. After your two gents last comments, it may no longer be to cheap...
the mvmt. ,as described in the listing, is a non UK delivery. kind regards. achim.....i must re think my sloppy engraving experiences.....
