Family friend owned a jewelry store in the 70s and when they closed down had inventory piled up in the house. They ended up passing away and the family was clearing everything out and came across this watch, along with a few others. And it never appeared to have been worn. A few scratches have been added since, but there is something magical about strapping on a watch with all the original sharp edges and polishing. Nothing rare or extreme, but a very attractive watch nonetheless

NOS generally means the watch still has stickers on the case back and buckle, the string tag still on the watch, still in its original box with shell and papers. Once it has been worn, it may be close to new old stock. But no longer truly NOS. Nice watch anyway.

image.jpg I guess everyone’s interpretation is different. New without tags I guess you could say. The box still might turn up as they’ve found 5-10 of them already. Stuffs been sitting since for 40 years and was new back then. Either way, being worn now and I can sleep at night knowing I’m the one who added all its Character to it. Another neat thing was seeing the omega symbol in the center of the crystal. Neat feature for a vintage

Not trying to be a dick... but New Old Stock it is not. If that watch was advertised in its current state as NOS, then it would be delisted. It’s obviously been worn (bracelet scratches.)

Additionally New Old Stock pretty means all boxes and normally papers as it is unsold stock from the past in as new condition as it’s never been worn.

Answering the spirit of the original post - Yes.

I have a few watches in Excellent condition and I wear them all. I *do* try to be more careful with them, even going so far as to check weather and humidity forecast. But they do get wrist time.

So they aren’t NOS then? A worn NOS watch is a contradiction in terms. It’s not a matter of interpretation IMO. Like pregnant, you either are or you aren’t.

NOS literally means New Old Stock. I don't agree that necessarily includes box, papers, tags and so on. Old stocks did not always include those things, since sometimes they were attached to the watch at the time of the sale transaction, not before.

Very nice watch. IMO it was NOS before you wore it, not anymore but you could say "near NOS" although you might get some eggs thrown at you if you utter that term here.

I wear every single watch I buy, at least once.

Interested to see what other watches were in the inventory - there are some excellent watches from this period so it would be great to see some of the others (NOS or not:thumbsup:)

As mentioned above, your superb watch is in mint condition and not NOS. I'd wear it occasionally and be extra careful with it ;)

1711DC87-D3BB-4F89-B294-1C173FDBE7B6.jpeg This made me happy and sad at the same time. Hoping to get this one and put it on leather(unless a gold bracelet ever did come along)

Happy/sad? Don’t open the exchequer on the “Patek” until you verify that it is real! I may be wrong, but........!

Nigel Tufnel: Look… still has the old tag on, never even played it.
Marty DiBergi: [points his finger] You’ve never played…?
    Nigel Tufnel: Don’t touch it!
Marty DiBergi: We’ll I wasn’t going to touch it, I was just pointing at it.
Nigel Tufnel: Well… don’t point! It can’t be played.
Marty DiBergi: Don’t point, okay. Can I look at it?
Nigel Tufnel: No. no. That’s it, you’ve seen enough of that one.

It was bought new on a trip to Europe in the 60s according to the son. But I would of course verify it’s real. Don’t have any doubts myself
