The older I get, the more stuff I find myself toting around, and the more frequently I’m asking my wife if she “has room for this in her bag.” I live in a fairly urban area where I walk and take public transit a lot, and I’ve been considering adding something like this to my weekend and evening routine.

So, any of my OF brethren have any recommendations when it comes to satchels?

What kind of stuff are you toting around? Maybe cargo pants, with numerous pockets would do the trick. Or maybe a nice fanny pack?

I have Peak Design bags in a couple sizes that I wear daily. I can rightfully call the larger ones satchels and slings, but I guess the smaller one is pretty much a small purse.

I usually carry a lot of small EDC stuff around with me, and I don't like to overstuff my pants pockets.

I bought one a few years back in Toledo Spain because I had so much crap to carry. It’s nice leather . I have not had the stones to use it in the USA.

Great recommendation. I have a couple friends / colleagues who love Peak Design bags and they’d completely slipped my mind. Way more affordable than Akris too. Thanks!

I've used this Pacsafe for years. I had an earlier one, the fabric around the ends wore out, exposing the wires.

I wrote in to Pacsafe as it was unser warranty, and replaced without any hassles.

It has 2 webbed sides to hold water bottles or umbrellas. I like it because it's nice and light and has anti-theft design. I've brought it with me on vacation all around the world.

While leather ones may look nicer, I found they were much heavier and don't have the anti-theft features.

I have a leather postman's bag that I bought about 20 years ago. I use it when I travel. The leather is faded and beat to crap. It looks awesome.

I've used a 10L everyday sling for ~4 years and it's still in great shape. Recently, my wife convinced me that I don't need to lug around as much stuff, so I switched to one of their smaller pouches, and it's been good.

I won't win any fashion contests with it, but it's lightweight, durable, and very functional. I've tried nicer leather bags in the past - they look great, but all that leather tends to be heavy to lug around all day.

I have one for traveling. Lots of security features, water resistant. Just plain black.
Came in handy for sunglasses, sun screen, gum, wine opener, passport, cell phone, etc.
I only use it traveling but would be good for day trips.
My friend abused me and my murse, but it came in handy.

Hadn’t heard of Pacsafe and am checking them out now. The ability to carry a small umbrella would be great. Honestly, a significant draw to carrying a bag is having somewhere to stash vintage watches when I’m caught in the rain. Having an umbrella in addition would be terrific. It might also help me to not forget my umbrella at the bar when it’s stopped raining between beer 1 and 3 (or more).

The anti-theft design would also be welcome in unfamiliar areas, or some familiar unfortunatley.

My physique is more Galifianakis than Cooper these days, so I guess it’s time.

Yes. I was/am an Indiana Jones fan, and a long time ago I picked up a Mark VII gas mask bag, which is the bag Ford carried in all of the Indy films. I removed the center divider to create a larger interior.

It's beaten to the point I should just replace it, but it's comfortable and it's very "goldilocks."

These days it typically contains kids water bottles and snacks...

That does look handy. My wife collects EDC bags the way I collect watches... I think I'll show her, which inevitably means I'll have one I can borrow from her next week...

Yeah, I had a couple of Italian leather murses but they were pretty useless and heavy, although looked nice. As you pointed out, they don't have side webbing for umbrellas and water bottles/coffee mugs.

I also have Tumi stuff, but the Pacsafe was the clear winner for this size of murse.

Pacsafe for me. If I need to take more than my wallet I take a small Pacsafe.
Overseas trips, local holidays, always had a Pacsafe to look after my crap. Even when not wearing it, it's a good place to keep everything in the hotel room/cabin etc.
As to the "Murse" thing, I don't give a fυck what anyone thinks or says.

Well I guess so, so long as they don't Taser you and put you on the Sex Offender Register.
