hi everyone, brand new to the forum and to vintage watches! I recently received the omega watch that you will see in the photos and from the serial number I believe it is a 1961 solid gold omega watch that needs some work/servicing. Can anyone give me some advice on what model watch from omega this is? I am trying to figure out what I can on the watch before going to the watch shop and getting some quotes.

Any input/guidance is very much appreciated!

    Thanks,
    Vince

It's an Omega cased by US based Ross Case Company based out of NY and likely intended for the US market. It was customary at the time for Swiss movements imported into use to be cased by US companies to minimize taxes on precious metals. Some European countries also banned 14k gold cases.

620 Omega movement correctly marked for US market sales (OXG) in a US market case. These local market gold cases watches don’t generally have a model number.

Would you all rec a full Omega servicing or just get this cleaned up and looking shiny? I am hesitant with the $700 Omega servicing fee when the movement looks so good and the watch is keeping perfect time.

There is no reason to use Omega, they are expensive and will replace parts of the watch that will ruin the value ie dial and hands.

Find a good watch maker in your area and it should run less then 250.

And don't polish it to make it "shiny".
