Anyone noticed how many -69 Speedmasters are on sale right now?

Are you seeing what i’m seeing, or is it just me noticing hundreds of -69’s popping up for sale right now?

I would almost use the word invasion, as everywhere I look you see specifically this iteration on offer.

Even the -76’s or -80’s versions are much less to be found.

Any suggestions to why, as now I also see prices dropping on these due to the overwhelming offering of -69’s in variable condition.

Yes, i also reflected on this a month back. It became even more clear to me, when looking for a -74.
Not seeing many 74-76-78's out there.

Also thinking that Sweden must have been selling proportionally a lot of Speedmasters in the 60-70´s as i can see SO MANY for sale over the years.

145.022-69's have always been the most commonly seen reference of vintage Speedmaster.
They were in production for several years and right after the moon landing when the marketing machine was at its peak. Plus with three different variants there were a good number produced, sold well into the 70's.

I’ve been collecting the -69s for a while. It’s still the ref I wear most. There is one watch that almost always stays in rotation, it’s my very first -69 :

At the a certain point in time, I had 6 or even 7 -69s, all different (bezels, casebacks, green lume, chocolate...), till I realize that my interest was shifting towards something different as my initial collecting goal was kind of achieved.

I then started selling them, to allow new incomings, so I kinda contributed to give OP this impression. :D

I also think it’s good to see a higher supply of a reference, especially for people who start lurking on vintage : a chance to have some choice and pick the best quality for the money.

And I totally agree with @Davidt : -69 is a ref produced in large numbers back then :) still, only for the history and the step dial, it’s a perfect watch to have / wear / enjoy

True, this reference is an actual cool one to introduce someone to the vintage world of Omegas. But still amazed by the share numbers out there available. In this company my -82 long S and R Speedy looks almost ultra rare. :)

It's the only reference that I continue to repurchase after a sell.

I noticed that too actually, good for mine 74 (which apparentely have an impossible dial to find :( )
Having said that , A 69 tropical is the only reference that can possibly push me to sell my 74......if i can't keep both of them.

I also noticed that. I actually want to buy a tritium speedy from the 90's (or even 80's even if they seem to be more expensive for reasons I don't know), and currently I don't see any, while dozens of 69 are on sale. I am pretty surprised.

I think your watch is an exceptional Omega Speedmaster. Beautiful dial and wonderful condition. Just looks so good:thumbsup:

If an 50th Anniversary will raise the prices for -69’s, then yes I understand why people will push theirs to the market. Now we’re seeing so many for sale that the prices are being affected negatively. Looks more like a good opportunity to buy, i don’t know?
