Would be a fun "birth year" watch for the Man of the Year + it's probably not the worst watch you could purchase for well under a grand. Gueblin is highly collectible. Well, more like Gueblin has an enthusiastic collector class... Thanks for looking I have zero interest or affiliation to or with this seller. 400794473342 <---- ebay item number
1965!!!! Well, I was on my way to a little country I'd never heard of in my life in June 65. Called Vietnam apparently. Don't really want a watch to commemorate that.
Should we all chip in and buy it for George Clooney for all he does for the brand we love? Edit: nevermind, he was born in '61
Thank you for your service Jim & Miki. I truly respect your service and hope that you had a better homecoming than most I have read about.
I'm a Gubelin fan, and you can find much nicer and more interesting examples (date inscription not withstanding) for around that kind of money.
You'll note I said "unique". I like some of the Speedy's but the vintage ones don't speak to me the way they do for some people. A 1963 Seamaster 300 would be another story though.
Hard to argue with a vintage Seamaster 300. However I'll bet you'll get quite a few vintage Speedmaster votes. Pretty unique for most.
I was born in '65. And here's a sad story: I inherited the watch below from -- really -- an uncle about 15 years ago. It had lovely patina but wasn't working, and I didn't know anything about watches, so I took it to Asprey's in London and they insisted that I had to have the dial restored.... All I can say in my defense is I didn't know any better. I still love it and wouldn't sell it, but I always wear it with a little regret for what might have been.
