Being an Omega newbie familiar with but a handful of vintage designs (e.g. 1960s), I was wondering if someone could verify the authenticity of this buckle design. Many thanks!
I must say that doesn't look particularly age correct to me...definitely not 60s. For reference here is a 60s buckle on my Constellation. You will want to refer to Desmond's aka @mondodec 's informative and useful buckle and strap essay here and @omegastar 's compendium thread on buckles here.
A big thanks to all of you; will post my own photos if I decide to buy! Hard to tell if there is a hallmark or inscription from the obverse photo; too much resolution sacrificed by zooming in... Appreciate the great sources! Bookmarked both and I will pay more attention to the pinned threads next time...
Further research led me to a Swiss seller on Chrono24 selling some extravagantly expensive watches, who stocks a similar buckle - albeit apparently with the logo on the opposite side: http://www.chrono24.com/omega/brace...m-with-gold-plated-buckle-14mm--id6267399.htm Here's the eBay listing I purchased from, for the curious: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Genuine-Ome...18mm-New-for-mens-watches-Swiss-/192201654755Purchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network If the item is genuine then it seems like a pretty good deal for a genuine croc strap, so I ended up taking a chance in purchasing one... fingers crossed!
