Thinking about a vintage sub? Would be my first vintage. Anyone done it? Not sure I can cope with the build quality in comparison to a modern Rolex/Tudor?

He means can you cope with the transfer from a new watch to an old one. Considering the build guality could very well be less superior

I bought the new Tudor black bay 79220N and 79220B. And then I sold both, now I have a vintage Tudor sub 79090 and 94010. The vintage Tudor sub is real tool watch, and with the same build quality as the vintage Rolex. The only issue for vintage tudor is that there are a lot of fake parts and fake watch out there. Make sure you read a lot before buying. Also, they are not cheap anymore.

Vintage tudor subs are still really well made. It's really just an issue of if you can deal with having a vintage watch in general. It's not going to be as chunky as a modern black bay, but at least for me that's a plus. I find the vintage references to be much more wearable. I know several guys who own snowflakes. They're great watches.

I had a 79220R and a 79190 and now have neither. I liked both and if I had to pick one I’d go with the 79190 because the size is more comfortable on my wrist. Ultimately I decided to sell the Tudor Sub because I already have a sea dweller and want to diversify my collection from watches that are too similar.

When I went to pick up my 2777-1 SC, the gentleman had just sold a RCN snowflake to a lady about an hour before I got there. Let me tell you that watch was amazing. I would have purchased it if she hadn't.

as mentioned by others, vintage tudor sub is a real tool watch, and if you get a proper one , that is sealable, its a great watch to wear, and yes, inferior to modern in many aspects, but has its soul..

If you like classic styling, then vintage Tudor is a good choice...

In terms of "build quality" there's no real issue with these, but of course it will depend on the condition of the specific watch in question if it is still water resistant.

Build quality of vintage Tudor is pretty impressive. I wear both modern and vintsge Rolex and Tudor, and this 1965 Tudor sub has been my daily since I picked it up 6 months ago. It’s also the most accurate. It’s a little lighter than modern watches but still plenty bulk.

Depends on the age and condition of the vintage one you are getting... I coped, the build quality of the ones I have is pretty good... I had a 79220n, sold it and the proceeds went toward these two - both had bracelets but I prefer straps (and snowflake is away having minute hand lume redone)

I also have a Big Block, those are pretty well made too...
