·I received this communication from someone who works for BBC's Crime-watch program. Sad story, and if you can help I'm sure they'd appreciate it.
They're not very specific, except for the dating, and of course the case if solid would have been made in UK. But a capped version would also fit the bill.
Ive told her that I'll ask around and if anyone has a model from the period (piepan or domed) and one of the models of the period (167/8.005 or 14393, 14381) can you pm me. A pic of the watch would be good so I can onsend.
"Dear Desmond,
My name is Chloe, I am a Researcher on Crimewatch Roadshow, which is the daytime sister show of Crimewatch. Our programmes will be going out live from 13th-17th June. As part of the shows we have appeal films, where we appeal for information for unsolved crimes.
One of the cases we are looking at is the theft of an Omega Constellation watch (from around 1964/1965, bronzy colour). The owner is an elderly gentleman with Alzheimer’s, who was robbed in the street, he was awarded his watch for his services in the Royal Marines and it was his pride and joy.
We are looking for a similar watch to be shown as part of the live programme in the hope that anyone who may have seen it will have their memory jogged and call up with information.
I came across your blog and was hoping you might be able to suggest where I could source one from, or perhaps even have one yourself we might be able to use?
I’d greatly appreciate any help you are able to give.
Best,
Chloe Garfoot"
