Anyone familiar with a Junghans Meister 1/100th second stop watch?

The title pretty much says it all. I've just been offered a stopwatch that seems to be a 628 movement with three "subdials" showing 1/100s - 1 seconds - minutes (stopping at 12 minutes). It seems to be a rare and desirable thing but I can only find two references to the watch and no photos confirming that I've even identified it correctly. I'll be totally open, I've offered £130. Am I nuts; am I totally undervaluing the item; should I be jumping in the car and driving over to collect it now before the guy has a chance to find out more about it himself?

Can't add a photo from here.... will have one up in a New York minute...

Are you saying that you think it's a redial? As I say, I can't really find a matching reference photo ... can't be sure if the uneveness is wear/bleaching/whatever ... but the photos I have found have the Junghans logo at the top and obviously this one doesn't.

No... Logically I think it is real. I don't believe that anyone would fake that like that. Adding the Meister seems a little too far fetched. Either way at that price does it matter?

Just for a little more information, below is the only photo I've found of a similar stopwatch:

I'm pretty sure that Meister isn't the Meister that we often see on Omegas and other watches sold through that dealership, but a model line from Junghans.

too me the hands and printing are a match across the board.

The one your looking at has a slightly different spacing and size of the text... but personally I put that down to an earlier piece. The text does match the 1/10 second versions you can find multiple examples of via google search. So at the least the 1/10 exists with both sets of text style.

Yes. I saw that one and it's similar to the two examples I've found, with the Junghans star at the top. That said, they all seem to exhibit uneveness in the print. Odd, but not a deal breaker. For all I know it could simply be an earlier, or later, dial.

I have to check some of the boxes with my old stuff up in the attic. I think I have one of these, had it since I was a kid. There was a time as a kid where I was fascinated with stop watches and pocket watches so whenever I was at a fleamarket I bought what ever my little pocket money allowed.
Interesting watch, did you get it?

If I remember correctly, my stopwatch also had 3 subdials, one being covered to 2/3 though and the hand was running very fast, maybe to stop 1/100 or 1/10 ?

Sounds like a 1/10 second version which had the lower sub dial covered like that.

Thanks @Foo2rama , that Sounds about right.
Had a quick check in the attic, it’s not there. Maybe it‘s still at my parents place. I will check when I pay them a visit the next time.

Ha! Found it! I knew it was somewhere around.

Wrong box though. My memory failed me, as it is indeed a bit different from OP‘s watch. Reset pusher, 1/10 and all that. Size is 55mm.

Yup - they're the much more common version and seem to sell in the £60-100 range. The only real debate I have now with the seller is what sort of premium the 1/100th sec carries. I think my offer's fair considering I've only seen one photo and the stopwatch is unserviced ... but maybe I'm wrong.

Hmmm.... that's a third one from the 'bay. Of the two I found, one sold at auction for £128; the second was unsold with a "buy it now" of around £225; now we have this which seems to have gone unsold with an asking of $429. That either re-affirms that my £130 is sound or someone got a good deal.

Thanks for the info @jimmyd13 ! Amazed that it‘s worth anything. I probably bought it for a fiver back in the 90‘s.
I think given your findings on the bay and the auction, that your offer is fair.
May I ask what drives you towards a stop watch? Just happen to like them or do you collect them?

I have no interest in them whatsoever. Blasphemy, I know. This would mostlikely be a "flip".

People know I buy (and sell) watches. It's that simple. I don't hide my hobby and I make it well known that I am interested in any vintage watch, clock, timepiece or automaton. So when someone hears about a watch being offered for sale in a pub, at the club or anywhere else, I tend to get a call or a text message.

This belongs to an acquaintance of a friend who said they wanted to sell it. That lead to a photo through whatsapp and my trying to research the piece. The problem with things like this is the sellers have no idea what something like this is worth except that they're sure it must be worth three times whatever the buyer offers. And thus begins the dance....

I‘ve been there! That dance is part of the fun I guess. Funny what things come up when you’re known as „the watch guy“ among your friends. Unfortunately the majority of stuff I get offered is subpar, or it‘s the everlasting variety of the question „can you get me this „fill in Rolex ref“, but I only want to pay 40% below marked value.“ I always enjoy it if I can help somone out with a watch related question though.
