As per the title, I saw these Cufflinks on offer on a website I frequent so I bought them! No idea what the movement is but its manual winding and ticks away once wound. Well, one of them does, the other is stiff to wind there is no movement! Any ideas? They came in the post and it's pretty cold so maybe it'll free up when it's warmed up? Anyway, here's a pic!
I have a pair with small ladies movements, but non-functional. I rarely wear a suit anymore, but they are there when I have a wedding or funeral...
Yep, they've been around for a while. There's a pair of Benrus caliber cufflinks around here somewhere.
They look quite stunning, however spare a thought for these 'artisans' who are buying up all the older women's movements from gold buyers who have melted the cases. One day there's going to be a parts shortage in respect to a range of small/usually women's movements from various brands. Seems a pity. There is another 'craze' at the moment from another group of crafties, who buy the movements, disassemble them and mount them on a board in interesting ways for framing. I suppose if one is desperately looking for a part for Grannie's heirloom watch, one could always mug a dude in a suit who has it in his cufflinks. Cheers Desmond
I don't own one of these, but could I ask the chaps here who do - do the exposed movements catch or snag on things ? Eg. When you move around. And do the little bits fall off ?
They sit rather flat to the cuff, so no. At least I've had no issues with snagging. Also, the movements are super compact, and not functional....so nothing is moving or breaking off.
Perhaps a picture will help: That is how flat they sit on your cuff. They are THIN. At least the Omega ones are
I don't know where my wife got mine....but it's 100% certain that they're from Pinterest---and probably not to far down in the search results
